Before You Join

Before you take the plunge and join EGA and/or CyberStitchers, you might want to just peek at what we do and who we are. No problem. Click here to join our Guest List. You'll receive digests of our next one or two General Membership meetings (see the index page for the date of the next meeting). This will give you a chance to see what a meeting is like. There's more to us than meetings, of course, but the Guest List will give you a taste.

How to Join

If you would like to join CyberStitchers, please send the following information to our Membership Chair, Kelly:

  • Your name
  • Full street address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • EGA number (if currently an EGA member)
  • Chapter Affiliation and Region Affiliation (if applicable)
  • Appropriate amount of dues (see below)

Dues

Dues are collected once a year by the chapter, and must be submitted to the Regional and National organizations by May 31st. In order to meet this deadline, Cyberstitchers must collect all dues no later than May 15th. All members who submit dues payments after this date will be considered late renewals, and submitted to TVR and National as such. Payment can be made by PayPal or snail mail.

There are several types of membership in EGA. They are:

Primary Member - You are solely a member of one chapter.
Plural Member - You are a primary member of one chapter, but belong to another chapter (or multiple other chapters) secondarily.
Life Member - You have paid a lump sum to EGA for lifetime membership in the national organization; this does not include dues for your chapter affiliation(s).
Member-At-Large (MAL) - You are solely a member of EGA at the national level (dues paid to National annually), and have no chapter affiliation; if you subsequently join a chapter, you will no longer be a MAL.

Dues are calculated as follows:

The postage fee for EGA's quarterly "NeedleArts" magazine is included in the dues amount for U.S. residents. However, members who reside outside the U.S. will pay postage fees as follows:
Canadian Residents - $6 in addition to dues.
All Others - $30 in addition to dues.

Payment Addresses

To pay by PayPal:

The 'payee' is "cyberstitchers@excite.com". Click here to use PayPal.

Please email our Membership Chair to let her know you have submitted a payment.

To pay with a check by snail mail (US funds ONLY)

Make check payable to CyberStitchers.

Mail to:
CyberStitchers
PO Box 3972
Edmond OK 73083-3972

If you choose to pay by check or money order and reside outside the U.S., there will be an additional $35 fee to process your payment. This is charged by U.S. banks for the chapter to deposit your check and receive those funds. The chapter cannot absorb that cost, so we must pass it on to the member. We strongly recommend that members outside the U.S. pay any fees for dues, classes, etc., with PayPal, in order to avoid the additional $35 fee.

What happens next?

Once your information and dues have been received, we will add you to the main CyberStitchers (chapter business) list and to the Cyberstitchers Chat (all other conversation) list. Please be sure that your e-mail account will allow either 'direct adds' or 'invitations' to groups. Some do not, which means you must request permission yourself to join these groups. You will also receive information regarding other CyberStitchers lists such as Stitch of the Month and Petite Projects. You may join any 'open' SIG (Special-Interest Group) list that you like. The only restrictions are groups that are invitation only. These include the Cyberstitchers Board group and those formed specifically for GCCs (Group Correspondence Classes) - you must be a registered participant in that GCC to join its associated group.
