TVR Region Seminar:

Share-a-Stitch XXXVI
June 23-26, 2016 in Huntsville, AL

Other Regions:

August 21 - October 2, 2015 A Heritage of Needle Art:

Jeffrey R. Krull Gallery, Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Fort Wayne Area Embroiderer's Guild will sponsor A Heritage of Needle Art, an exhibition that honors Embroidery, in all its shapes and traditions, as a timeless and enduring expression of art. A sampling of historic needle art, on loan from the Embroiderer's Guild of America's Permanent Collection in Louisville KY, will be on display. Items selected for exhibition will represent a wide variety of embroidery techniques as well as cultural needle art traditions from all over the world.
Highlighting the exhibit will be a 6' x 6' military insignia designed and embroidered by Master Sergeant Edward Kuhn in the early 1900s. Kuhn used 800 skeins of silk and stitched the tapestry over a period of 14 years. Master Sergeant Edward C. Kuhn March 29, 1872 - September 4, 1948) was an official U.S. Army artist who designed the first authorized coats of arms and unit insignia for the U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps, Engineer Corps, Cavalry, Infantry, National Guard and other branches. An expert on flags, heraldry, embroidery, and military antiquities, Kuhn made significant contributions to American military history. A number of Kuhn's paintings are included in the permanent collections of the White House, U.S. Naval Academy Museum and the Smithsonian Institution. Kuhn is the great uncle of Jeffrey Krull, recently retired director of the Allen County Public Library system and Gallery namesake. For more information, contact Susan Mol,

[The Allen County Public Library is located at 900 Library Plaza, in downtown Fort Wayne. Its' Genealogy Center is a valuable resource for the Northeastern Indiana and is know to house the largest genealogy research collections available, incorporating records from around the world.].

The Embroiderers' Guild of America acknowledges the value of needlework in art and history. The National Exhibit is a representative selection of the best in artistic and technical works. It is through the needle’s eye that EGA embraces both traditional and contemporary needlework while expanding the perception of embroidery as an art form.

The 20th National Exhibit features more than 70 embroidered works of the highest quality in design and craftsmanship from artists across the United States and Canada.

See for Yourself: Through the Needle's Eye will travel across the country through 2016. If you are interested in bringing the exhibition to your area, please contact Brad Cape at EGA Heaquarters.
