About Us

What is CyberStitchers?
CyberStitchers is the first online chapter of The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc.  Chartered in March 2000, we have over 250 members across the globe.  CyberStitchers is a full-fledged EGA chapter whose members receive all of the benefits of EGA.
What do we do?
Our EGA chapter does everything a local face-to-face chapter does except serve cookies and punch at meetings. We talk about embroidery, share projects and advice, give out door prizes, organize group correspondence courses, host education events, donate to charity, and offer free projects and handouts. We also have Petite Projects, UFO (Unfinished projects) challenges, online classes, design challenges, and more.  The chapter is always working to provide more activities and benefits for its members.
Where are the meetings?
Our meetings happen every other month starting on the second Thursday of the month. Meetings run over our primary email list until the following Tuesday.  It’s just like being in a face-to-face chapter but from the comfort of your own home.
What happens outside meetings?
CyberStitchers are a chatty group.  Our members talk and exchange ideas over an email chat list outside meetings. We also have several email lists for special interests like beading, Hardanger, and more. Our online classes each have their own lists too.
Do I need to be a member of EGA?
Yes, you must belong to EGA to be part of CyberStitchers. CyberStitchers exists for embroiderers who want to belong to EGA but can’t attend local meetings or who want to be part of an international group of stitchers.  Not sure you want to join yet? Then come as a guest.
Can I belong to my local chapter and CyberStitchers?
Sure! That’s called plural membership. Many of our members also belong to a face-to-face (F2F) EGA chapter.  They enjoy their local chapter while also joining CyberStitchers for its online community and benefits. CyberStitchers often offers correspondence courses, Petite Projects, and other activities that their local chapter might not offer.
What if I'm not sure I want to be a member?
Then be our guest. You can attend two meetings (four months) to try us out.  You’ll get a digest version of the meeting’s emails for a taste of what goes on.  To visit a meeting as a guest, go to our Guest Invitation page or contact our membership chair.
Why can't guests see or participate in certain things?
Some projects and activities are only for members because of copyright and license restrictions. However, you can see pictures of the finished projects on the Petite Projects and SAM pages.
How much is membership?
Primary member pay $54 per year: that's $39 for the EGA’s national dues, $3 for Tennessee Valley Region’s dues, and $12 for chapter dues.  Plural members pay $12 if your primary chapter is in the Tennessee Valley Region or $15 per year if it is in another region.  If you live outside the U.S., there is an additional postage fee. Dues include a subscription to Needle Arts Magazine and membership in the Tennessee Valley Region of EGA.  Look at the Joining page for more information.
